The design team of HCL Global Systems Inc. has come up with an architecture, which involves a combination of Java / J2EE technologies to give an effective solution to the customer. The solution was based on two-tier architecture with browser based front-end. The middle tier containing the business logic was developed using the Enterprise Java Beans technology, which handles transaction processing in a robust way. As the client had already applications running with Oracle backend, it was the natural choice as the backend.

The Product “Online A&L Management Tool” is designed and implemented in bleeding edge Java / J2EE technology which gives good stable, secure and gives good performance. The application adopts a component-based architecture where the product is broken into smaller components like underwriting, party, claims, accounts etc which can integrate with ease with each other using interfaces. The architecture is based on MVC, which uses many open source products in its architecture. The application uses Rule Engine for their Business Rules and it is externalized. This enables Business Rules to be set up easily by the business analyst. The components based architecture adopted here uses a loosely coupled architecture, which integrates with each other using XML.

Apart from this the business components uses Microsoft.Net class library, the other main component of the .NET Framework, a comprehensive, object-oriented collection of reusable types that we use to develop applications ranging from traditional command-line or graphical user interface (GUI) applications to applications based on the latest innovations provided by ASP.NET, such as Web Forms and XML Web services.

Business Logic Layer is the interface between Presentation layer and the Data Access layer. This Business logic layer is usually one of the tiers in a multitier architecture. It separates the business logic from other modules, such as the Data access layer and Presentation Layer User interface. Data Access Layer is to provide data to your business objects without using database specific code.
